assignment 3

1)Problem-solving
-it is one of the computer tutor to enhance the student's higher order of thinking. it follows cognitive process as it involves thinking skills as logic, reasoning, pattern recognition and strategies. this software takes students from simple "trial-and-error" to more logical and systematic thinking processes.
-while letting the students to use this software teachers should:
  • identify the skills that a particular problem-solving program addresses.
  • provide students learning goals and a work schedule and allow students to interact sufficiently.
  • demonstrate the planning steps to solve the problem, then ask students to provide other possible methods to solve the same problem using the same software.
  • let the work to be done in pairs or in small groups.
  • stress in thinking process.
  • plan transfer activities, which means students should be let to do the activity with pen and paper too. 

2) Multimedia encyclopedias and electronic books  
-multimedia encyclopedias typically stores a huge database with full text, still images, animations, audio and videos. students can use it to retrieve any kind of information.
-electronic books primarily presents textual information for reading, but are supplemented with other types of multimedia information such as sounds, spoken voices, pictures and animations. students can use as a tutor to learn reading, spelling and word skill and also they can directly go to different hyperlinks while reading through the texts.

 -Role of the teacher while using this tutorial software are:
  • demonstrate the varities of ways to search information
  • provide clear questions so that the students can reply correctly using that software
  • conduct a follow up activities or presentations for students sharing their findings or conclusion drawn from the information.

  1. It is a good piece of work but it could have been more vivid if you mentioned problem solving examples which is closely relevant to the topic and also its integration with the lesson, draw backs and explain little more on the topic.

    And same comment applies for multimedia encyclopedia and electronic books...

  2. well we understood in almost similar way. The problem solving software is to do with enhancing higher order thinking and it takes from simple "trial-and-error" to more logical and systematic thinking processes. so it is understood that the complex are to be done slowly and only after the simple problems are solved.
    Teacher plays a very vital role to make the fruitful use of the software.
    multimedia encyclopedias are a stored form of data that helps students to act as future references. It is a software that can have explanations in writings and even pictures and audios to make it more interacting.

  5. First of all I must congratulate you for your work as it is done in pretty good manner. All the points that you have mentioned is relevant. You have talked so much about the role of the teachers and what the teachers should do while using that software so it would be nice if you could talk little more about the role of the students.
    All I have to say is that keep it up...
